The Basics[]
Nucleons are sub-atomic particles found in the nucleus.
For the purposes of A Level Chemistry this means Protons and Neutrons.
You would be expected to calculate the number of each in any given isotope from its Atomic Number and Mass Number.
You are not expected to know anything about how they are arranged within the nucleus.
Nor are you expected to know anything about how these numbers would change due to Radioactive Decay.
That is the concern of Nuclear Physics.
